Psalm 46 is a  psalm in times of environmental troubles -"Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved .." The psalm then  points to the spiritual home of the city of God where the streams make the city glad - an image of hope.  On either side of the central figure are  -The heathen raging, the earth melting  and God making the wars to cease. The words "Be still and know that I am God..." form the image of the central panel.  .During times of turbulence- stillness and an opening to the Holy Spirit are the ways of peace.

Ps. 44 I did in  2000 when the BSE crisis claimed the lives of millions of animals. The line "Indeed for your sake we are killed daily, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter" struck a chord within me.
